We are very pleased to announce that Tended’s geofencing technology won the Highly Commended Award in the Safety Category at this year’s Railway Supplier Excellence Awards (RISE), organised by the Railway Industry Association (RIA).
Now in its fourth year, the RISE awards celebrate excellence and achievements in the UK rail supply community, with the winners announced at the prestigious RIA Dinner on 29th June at the Intercontinental Park Lane, Central London.
A record number of over 90 entries were submitted by RIA members, which were then carefully considered by a high-level panel of railway leaders, before a shortlist was decided across 10 different categories.
Tended’s award-winning solution uses geofencing technology to improve track worker safety, helping to put an end to near misses and fatalities. Using an online dashboard, organisations can map out virtual safe zones for their trackside workers to help keep them within safe working limits onsite. The technology detects if someone leaves the safe zone to centimetre-level accuracy, alerting them in real time through a small wearable device. Having been developed around behavioural science, the solution is designed to nudge workers into safer behaviours and increase hazard perception.
