This week we are delighted to announce the newest member of the Tended team - Iona Brokenshire!

Iona joins us as Account Assistant, supporting our finance team. Having just moved to Lincolnshire, Iona is originally from Burghead, Scotland and is a published travel author. She is an experienced finance officer and will be a highly valued member of Tended as our team and customer base continues to grow!

We took five minutes out of the day to chat with Iona to help everyone get to know her a little better...

What will you be doing/be responsible for in your new role at Tended?

I am the Accounts Assistant. I will be helping the finance team by requesting missing invoices, maintaining an accurate cash flow, and aiding with the preparation of the monthly accounts for reporting to the board. As Tended grows, so will my role.

How do you think the work Tended is doing will impact the railway industry?

Tended is going to help people in the rail industry work smarter and safer. When workers can do their jobs without incident, we all benefit.

What are you most looking forward to about working at Tended?

I am looking forward to being part of a young tech company which is going places and embracing all the challenges that come with it.

What motivates you at work?

I love a spreadsheet that balances. That's a big ol' "tick" against a task.

What’s going to be the most exciting part about your job?

"Accounts" and "exciting" in the same sentence? The scope of what Tended can achieve is exciting!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Being part-time, I finally have some spare time. Yay! So as well as music/theatre/comedy gigs, I like motorbiking, visiting castles and such, cooking, baking, sewing, trumpet, ukulele, and writing my next book. Oh, I appear to have used up all my spare time. Doh.

How would your friends describe you?

My friends would say I am non-stop.

What’s something you’re proud of doing in your lifetime?

In 2021 I published Moray Speyside: A Travel Guide. At the time, I was employed by a company which published specialised travel guides - but they said they didn't want it. I set up my own company IGB Publishing and have sold about 1300 copies worldwide, online and in shops. I receive lots of lovely feedback which really gets me in the feels. Lots of new attractions have opened since 2021 so there will definitely be a bigger and better 2nd edition.

It's fantastic to have you with us, Iona!
